Throughout 25
years of photojournalism, Lebanese photographer Samer Mohdad has endeavoured to
record the profound transformations of the Arab world and to document the
central question of sociocultural developments in the Near and Middle East. The
Accomplished Visions: The Arabs exhibition is an account of key moments of this
oeuvre that can also be read as a thorough exploration of the diversity and
complexity of Arab worlds, which have experienced incredible geopolitical,
religious and social upheavals over the past three decades. Today, Samer
Mohdad, who from 1986 to 2012 travelled throughout twelve countries (Algeria,
Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya,
Morocco, Palestine, Syria and Yemen), continues this long-term investigation,
whose first group of images presented here constitute a source of key historic
and iconographic documentation.
